The much-awaited new Volkswagen Taigun midsize SUV has finally launched in India. Volkswagen also updated the costs and variant details of its brand new car. It is priced between Rs 10.49 lakhs and Rs 17.50 lakhs. You can easily order your Taigun online or by paying a token quantity of Rs 10,000 from licensed VW dealerships. Volkswagen has claimed that the Taigun has already received over 10,000 pre-orders.

The Taigun has been highlighted as a ‘Made in India and Made for India’. It claims to provide a mix of all advanced and popular features in an outsized section of consumers. It will share the platform with the recently launched Skoda Kushaq. However, it guarantees to be a unique model and shares no similarities with its Czech cousin model. 

Exterior

First thing, the all-new Volkswagen Taigun midsize SUV is not the biggest of the midsize SUVs. It is slightly shorter and narrower than a Hyundai Creta. But, this does not prevent itself from calling itself one of the most stylish and modern models.

Engine and Specifications

Buyers can have two petrol engine choices- a 1.0 TSI with a three-cylinder and 114bhp or 178 Nm, and the 1.5-liter TSI four-cylinder motor with 148bhp or 250 Nm. The one-litre has a six-speed manual. The 1.5 gets a six-speed manual or a seven-speed DSG. 

The Taigun 1.5’s highlight is of the DSG automatic case. In ‘D’ mode, the DSG does a great job of shifting up smoothly. But, as soon as you change it to ‘S’,  everything changes. The engine makes a weird noise too. 

Interior Styling and Luxury

The Taigun’s interior style is similar to VW’s other premium models, which is an excellent factor. It has a large touchscreen infotainment system that visually attracts a big T-Roc, chrome highlights, and light-weight coloured materials wrapped around the dash. Just like the exterior, the cabin is solid. 

The technology of the all-new Volkswagen Taigun midsize SUV is spot on. There are door pads, a perfect space to store your belongings, and an armrest. It also contains vast front seats. Even the headroom is well furnished. Access to the rear seats is very easy because of the wide entrance and the door gap. 

The Volkswagen Taigun has the biggest wheel-base. This can be easily seen once you are sitting in the second row. There is a good amount of legroom, even with the front seat positioned to a 6-footer’s preference. 

VW has not formally discharged Taigun’s boot capability. However, it is expected to be similar to the Skoda Kushaq that is rated at 385-litres. It would not be a giant boot in its category. However, it offers 60:40 split-folding seats, a deep goods space with a reasonably low loading height, and a modest boot house which is a good point.
