Toyota unveils RAV4 inspired Corolla Cross SUV

Toyota Motors has unveiled all-new RAV inspired Corolla Cross SUV in Thailand. This car is a global car and would be introduced to other South East Asian markets in coming months. This SUV is built on Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) which underpins Toyota Corolla as well.

The SUV resembles other Toyota siblings and features signature Toyota front fascia with a large mesh grille, slim headlamps and dual-tone bumpers with skid plates. It has squared wheel arches and comes with body molding along the wheel arches and along the sills.

It also comes with dual-tone machine-cut alloys and has integrated roof-rails. The rear-end of the cars come with L-shaped wraparound tail lights. Towards the inside, the car features Burgandy colored upholstery, ambient lighting and a floating type touchscreen infotainment system.

Toyota will be offering Corolla Cross in two engine options; a 1.8-liter petrol mill capable of producing 138 BHP of power and 175 Nm of torque. It is also offered in a 1.8-liter petrol hybrid mill that can belt 168 BHP of power and 305 Nm of torque. The engines come mated to CVT gearbox technology. The engines are expected to be offered with a 4th generation hybrid system which could deliver a phenomenal combined average of about 23.3 kilometers per liter (petrol only efficiency is about 15.4 Kilometre per litre).

In Thailand the car is launched in four trims, these include Hybrid Premium Safety, Hybrid Premium, Hybrid Smart, and 1.8 sport. The pricing of each trim as given below:

In India, Toyota will be launching Vitara Brezza dubbed Urban Cross SUV in coming month. At this moment, it is unclear if Toyota would consider launching the Corolla Cross in India.

The company will also be launching the car into the some other market very soon!
